Video to MP3

Pull the audio out of a video file and save it as an MP3 — useful for saving a lecture, podcast segment, or music clip's audio without the video. Extraction happens locally in your browser.

Video Tools Runs entirely in your browser

Your video is processed on your device and is never uploaded to our servers.

Only use this tool with files you own or have the right to process.

Drag videos here or choose them

You can select more than one file (MP4, WebM, MOV, or MKV)

What this tool does

Extracts the audio track from a video file and saves it as a standalone audio file at a quality level you choose. Several videos can be processed at once.

When to use it

  • A recorded lecture or video podcast you want to listen to without the picture.
  • A clip containing music or narration you need on its own.
  • You want a far smaller file where the video was never the point.
  • You are preparing audio to listen to while travelling.

How to use it

  1. Put your video files on the drop area or choose them — several at once, in MP4, WebM, MOV or MKV.
  2. Choose the "Audio quality"; the same level applies to every selected video.
  3. Wait for processing — on the first run the engine loads before work starts.
  4. Download the audio files individually or with "Download all as ZIP".

A practical example

Input

A 45-minute recorded lecture in MP4.

Output

An audio file with the same content at a fraction of the original video's size.

Limitations

  • Quality is bounded by the audio in the source video; raising the level cannot improve a poor recording.
  • The file limit is 1 GB, with a warning above 200 MB because processing will be noticeably slower.
  • Work happens on your device's processor, so long files take real time, especially on weaker machines.
  • Accepted formats are MP4, WebM, MOV and MKV.

Privacy and processing

The video is processed inside your browser and is never uploaded. The processing engine fetches only its own files from this same site, and never sends your video anywhere.

Technical notes

  • Processing uses FFmpeg compiled to WebAssembly running inside a web worker, so the page does not freeze while it works.
  • The engine loads only when a video tool is actually opened, so its considerable weight never reaches other pages.
