What this tool does
Cuts a section out of an audio file by setting a start and end time in seconds, giving you that section on its own.
When to use it
- Pulling an excerpt out of a long podcast episode.
- Removing an intro or dead air from the start of a recording.
- Taking part of a track to use as a ringtone or a bed.
- Separating a question and its answer out of an interview recording.
How to use it
- Put the audio file you want to cut from on the drop area, or choose it — MP3, WAV, M4A or OGG.
- Enter "Start (seconds)" and "End (seconds)".
- Click "Trim audio", then "Download clip".
A practical example
Input
A 50-minute podcast episode, start at 900 and end at 1080.
Output
A three-minute audio clip containing only that section.
Limitations
- An end time at or before the start time is rejected with a message rather than producing an empty clip.
- Times are entered numerically rather than dragged on a waveform.
- One section at a time.
- The file limit is 300 MB, with a warning above 60 MB.
Privacy and processing
Trimming happens inside your browser and the audio file is never uploaded.
Technical notes
- Processing uses FFmpeg compiled to WebAssembly — the same engine behind this site's video tools.
