What this tool does
Raises or lowers an audio file's level by an amount you set, producing a new copy at the adjusted level.
When to use it
- A quiet recording that is hard to hear.
- A file that is too loud next to others it will be used with.
- Background music you want quieter before mixing it under narration.
How to use it
- Put an audio file on the drop area or choose it.
- Set the amount of change — "No change (0)" is the neutral position.
- Click apply, then download the file.
A practical example
Input
A quiet interview recording with a moderate increase applied.
Output
The same recording at a clearly audible level with its content unchanged.
Limitations
- Pushing the level too far clips the peaks and produces distortion that cannot be undone in the output file.
- Raising the level raises the background noise by exactly as much.
- The change applies to the whole file rather than part of it.
- To even out the level automatically instead of setting it by hand, use the Audio Normalizer.
Privacy and processing
Processing happens inside your browser and the file is never uploaded.
Technical notes
- The adjustment is applied as a gain filter during local re-encoding.
