What this tool does
Reads an audio file's information and displays it: name, format, size, duration and approximate bitrate. Inspection only — the file is never modified.
When to use it
- Checking a file's duration or quality before using it.
- Comparing the bitrate of several files to pick the best one.
- Confirming the format of a file you received.
How to use it
- Put an audio file on the drop area or choose it.
- Wait for "Reading file info...".
- Read the fields, then use "Check another file" for a second one.
A practical example
Input
An MP3 from a music library.
Output
A readout of the name, format, size, duration and approximate bitrate in kbps.
Limitations
- The bitrate shown is derived from the file's size and length, so a variable-bitrate file reports an average rather than its true profile.
- Tags such as artist or album are not shown.
- This reads only and changes nothing.
Privacy and processing
The information is read on your device the moment you pick the file, and the file is never uploaded to our servers.
Technical notes
- The read is immediate because it does not need the heavy processing engine the other audio tools load.
