What this tool does
Adds a gradual fade at the start of an audio file, at the end, or both, so the sound eases in and out rather than cutting abruptly.
When to use it
- A clip that starts or ends with an abrupt cut that sounds unfinished.
- Background music that should enter and leave quietly.
- A clip you trimmed out of a longer recording whose edges sound harsh.
How to use it
- Put an audio file on the drop area or choose it.
- Set the fade duration at the start and at the end.
- Click "Apply fade", then "Download file".
A practical example
Input
A two-minute music clip with a two-second fade in and a three-second fade out.
Output
The same clip rising smoothly at the start and easing away at the end.
Limitations
- Fades apply at the ends only; one cannot be added in the middle of a file.
- The fade duration must be shorter than the file itself.
- The fade is baked into the output and cannot be undone.
Privacy and processing
The fade curve is applied locally in your browser, with nothing sent anywhere.
Technical notes
- The fade is applied as a gradual gain curve during local re-encoding.
