What this tool does
Stamps a header line at the top of every page and a footer line at the bottom of a PDF, with an alignment and font size you choose. The two are independent, so you can use just one.
When to use it
- An official document needs the organisation's name at the top of every page.
- A report should carry its issue date or version number in the footer.
- An internal file needs its classification or department on every page.
How to use it
- Put a PDF on the drop area or choose it.
- Fill in "Header text (top of every page)", "Footer text (bottom of every page)", or both.
- Choose the alignment (left, centre or right) and the font size.
- Click "Add and download".
A practical example
Input
A 20-page report with the header "Example Corp — Internal Report" aligned right, and the footer "Version 2 — First review".
Output
Twenty pages carrying the header at the top right and the footer beneath, at a consistent margin from the edge.
Limitations
- The text is fixed on every page; variable elements such as a page number are not supported. Use the Add Page Numbers tool for that.
- The text is drawn over the content, so it can overlap a document with no top or bottom margin.
- Very long text can run past the page width; short text suits a header better.
Privacy and processing
The stamping happens inside your browser and the file is never uploaded.
Technical notes
- The text is rendered on a hidden canvas with the browser's own text engine and embedded as a transparent image — which is what lets it render correctly in any script, including right-to-left text that pdf-lib's Latin fonts would break.
- The gap between the text and the page edge is fixed at 24 points.
