PDF Form Field Inspector

See every text field, checkbox, dropdown, and radio button a PDF's AcroForm defines, plus each field's current value and available options — useful for understanding a form before filling or building an integration for it.

What this tool does

Lists every form field in a PDF: the field's internal name, its type (text field, checkbox, dropdown or radio buttons), its current value, and its available options where it has them. Inspection only — nothing is modified.

When to use it

  • You need the field names before filling a form programmatically or with another tool.
  • A form will not keep what you type and you want to confirm whether it has real fields at all, or is just a picture.
  • You received a completed form and want to read the stored values without opening an editor.
  • You are checking whether a form carries hidden fields you did not notice on screen.

How to use it

  1. Put a PDF on the drop area or choose it.
  2. Wait for "Inspecting..." to finish.
  3. Read the table: "Field name", "Type" and "Current value", with "Options:" listed for dropdowns.

A practical example

Input

A job application form in PDF.

Output

A table showing, for instance, a text field named full_name with an empty value, a checkbox named agree_terms that is unticked, and a dropdown named country listing its options.

Limitations

  • A file with no real form fields shows nothing — many "forms" are just printed pages with blank lines on them.
  • This tool reads only; to fill a form use the Fill PDF Form tool.
  • Field types outside the supported set are reported as "Other type" rather than guessed at.

Privacy and processing

The inspection runs on your device. Neither the file nor its field values are uploaded — which matters here, because completed forms routinely carry personal data.

Technical notes

  • Reading uses pdf-lib's built-in AcroForm support, so it reflects the form's actual structure rather than how it is drawn.
