What this tool does
Reorders a PDF's pages into booklet printing order: pages are arranged on sheets so that printing double-sided and folding down the middle produces a booklet that reads correctly.
When to use it
- You are printing a booklet, newsletter or event programme to be folded in half.
- You want to turn an ordinary document into a small pamphlet for handing out.
- You are preparing training material to be printed and saddle-stapled.
How to use it
- Put a PDF on the drop area or choose it.
- Click "Create and download booklet".
- Print the result double-sided, flipping on the short edge, then fold the stack in half.
A practical example
Input
An 8-page document.
Output
A 2-sheet, 4-side file whose pages are in booklet order — not 1, 2, 3, 4, but the order that reads correctly once folded.
When the page count is not a multiple of four, blank pages are inserted where the signature needs them, which is exactly how printed booklets normally work.
Limitations
- The file must have at least one page.
- The output is specifically for double-sided printing; printing it single-sided produces a meaningless order.
- You do not control the number of signatures or the binding method — the order is computed for a single booklet folded down the middle.
- Placing two pages on one sheet shrinks the text; check the result before printing many copies.
Privacy and processing
The reordering happens inside your browser and the file is never uploaded.
Technical notes
- Pages are copied and arranged with pdf-lib without re-encoding their content.
- Blank pages added to complete a signature are created at the same page size so the layout stays aligned.
