Flatten PDF Form
Lock in the values already entered into a PDF's form fields, turning them into regular page content so the form can no longer be edited in any PDF reader. Runs entirely in your browser.
Your file is processed on your device and is never uploaded to our servers.
Flattening a form converts the entered values into permanent page content, so they can no longer be edited in any PDF reader.

What this tool does
Converts a PDF's filled form fields into fixed content drawn on the page. The values stay visible exactly as they were but stop being fields that can be edited or cleared.
When to use it
- You filled in a form and want to send it so the recipient cannot alter what you wrote.
- A form's fields print with distracting blue or grey boxes around them.
- You are archiving completed forms and want their values stable long term.
- A form displays differently across readers and you want one consistent appearance for everyone.
How to use it
- Put the completed PDF on the drop area or choose it.
- Run the flatten and download the result.
A practical example
Input
A PDF contract whose fields you filled with a name and date and then signed electronically.
Output
The same contract with its values showing exactly as before, but clicking one no longer opens an edit field — the content is drawn onto the page.
Limitations
- The operation is permanent: keep a copy of the file before flattening if you might need to edit it later.
- A file with no form fields comes back unchanged.
- Flattening prevents editing through the form fields only; it does not stop someone altering the document with a full PDF editor. To stop it being opened at all, use the Protect PDF tool.
Privacy and processing
Flattening happens inside your browser; neither the file nor its field values are uploaded.
Technical notes
- Flattening draws each field's current appearance onto the page and then removes the field itself, via pdf-lib's AcroForm support.
