PDF Form Creator

The PDF Form Creator lets you draw real, interactive fillable fields (AcroForm) onto any PDF that doesn't already have a form: choose a field type (text or checkbox), give it a name, then drag the box over the page preview to position and size it precisely. The result is a PDF with genuine interactive fields you can fill in with any PDF reader — not just a visual box. This tool is different from the "Fill PDF Form" tool, which fills in fields a PDF already has; this one creates fields from scratch. All processing happens in your browser — your file is never uploaded to a server.

PDF Tools Runs entirely in your browser

Your file is processed entirely on your device and is never uploaded to a server.

This tool creates brand-new fillable fields on a PDF that doesn't already have any. To fill in fields a PDF already has, use the "Fill PDF Form" tool instead of this one.

What this tool does

Adds new form fields to a PDF that does not already have a form. You page through the document visually, choose a field type and name it, then click where it should go.

When to use it

  • You have a finished document design and want to turn it into a fillable form.
  • A scanned paper form needs real fields placed over it so it can be completed on a device.
  • You want to distribute a form that is filled in digitally rather than printed and handwritten.

How to use it

  1. Put a PDF on the drop area or choose it.
  2. Use "Previous" and "Next" to reach the page you want.
  3. Choose the "Field type": text field or checkbox.
  4. Type a "Field name", for example full_name — a name is required before a field can be added.
  5. Use "Add at this position" and place it on the page.
  6. Repeat for each field, then click "Download PDF with fields".

A practical example

Input

A registration sheet designed as a plain PDF, onto which you add a text field named full_name, another named phone, and a checkbox named agree_terms.

Output

The same sheet, now a fillable form in any PDF reader, with the three fields carrying the names you chose.

Limitations

  • Only text fields and checkboxes can be created; dropdowns and radio groups are not offered.
  • Field names must be unique; a duplicate is renamed automatically, with a notice telling you it happened.
  • A file that already has a form is not what this tool is for — use Fill PDF Form instead.
  • Text values entered into these fields later are subject to the same Latin-only constraint described on the Fill PDF Form tool.

Privacy and processing

The file is processed entirely on your device and is never uploaded to a server at any point.

Technical notes

  • Fields are created through pdf-lib as genuine AcroForm fields, not drawings that merely look like fields.
  • Translating a click on the preview into PDF coordinates uses the same conversion logic as the PDF annotation tool, which is covered by unit tests that need no browser.

Frequently Asked Questions
