What this tool does

Reads a video file's information and displays it: format, size, duration, width, height, aspect ratio, orientation and bitrate. Inspection only — the file is never modified.

When to use it

  • You are checking a clip's dimensions or duration before uploading to a platform with requirements.
  • You want the bitrate to judge a clip's quality against its size.
  • You are confirming a clip's orientation before editing it.
  • You received a file and want its properties quickly.

How to use it

  1. Put a video on the drop area or choose it.
  2. Wait for "Reading video info...".
  3. Read the fields shown, then use "Check another file" for a second one.

A practical example

Input

A clip from a phone camera.

Output

A readout of the format, size, duration, dimensions, aspect ratio, orientation and approximate bitrate.

Limitations

  • The information comes from what the browser's media player exposes, which is less detailed than a specialist inspection tool provides.
  • The bitrate is an estimate computed from size and duration rather than read from the file's header.
  • This reads only and changes nothing.

Privacy and processing

The information is read on your device the moment you pick the file, and the video is never uploaded to our servers.

Technical notes

  • The read is immediate because it does not need the heavy processing engine the other video tools load.
