Remove Image Metadata
Remove camera details, GPS location, and other EXIF metadata embedded in a photo, then download a clean copy — useful for privacy before posting or sending images online. Processing happens entirely in your browser.
Your images are processed on your device and are never uploaded to our servers.
Drag images here or choose them
You can select multiple images at once (JPG, PNG, or WebP)
What this tool does
Strips the hidden metadata inside image files — EXIF data such as the capture location, date, camera model and its settings — by rewriting the image from its pixels alone.
When to use it
- You are about to publish a photo and do not want to reveal where it was taken.
- You are selling something online and photographing it at home, where the coordinates could expose your address.
- You are sending photos to a workplace and would rather not share your device details or the time of day.
- You are cleaning up a photo archive before sharing it.
How to use it
- Drag the images you want cleaned onto the drop area, or choose them — several at once is supported.
- Wait for processing to finish.
- Download the cleaned images individually or with "Download all as ZIP".
A practical example
Input
A phone photo carrying GPS coordinates, a capture date and the phone model.
Output
An image that looks exactly the same, with no coordinates, date or device details attached.
Many phones record the location in every photo by default, and it stays in the file after it is shared — the single strongest reason to run this before publishing anything publicly.
Limitations
- The data is removed by rewriting the image, so the output is re-encoded and its file size may differ from the original.
- Anything visible inside the picture itself — a recognisable landmark, a number plate — is not removed by this tool; use the image redaction tool to obscure visible content.
- Supported formats are JPG, PNG and WebP.
- Your original file on disk keeps its metadata; this produces a clean copy and never alters the original.
Privacy and processing
Every image is processed inside your browser and none is uploaded — which is fundamental here specifically, since uploading a photo to an outside server in order to strip its location data would defeat the purpose.
Technical notes
- Removal works by drawing the image's pixels onto a fresh canvas and re-encoding; only the pixels carry over, and nothing else from the original file does.
