What this tool does
Converts images between JPG, PNG and WebP. Each image is decoded and rewritten in the format you choose, and several can be converted at once.
When to use it
- A platform accepts only JPG and your images are PNG.
- You want WebP for lighter, faster-loading pages.
- You need PNG to keep a transparent background that another format discarded.
- You are normalising a batch of images to one format before handing them over.
How to use it
- Drag your images onto the drop area or choose them.
- Pick the format under "Convert to".
- Download the converted images individually or with "Download all as ZIP".
A practical example
Input
Five PNGs with transparent backgrounds, converted to JPG.
Output
Five JPGs in which the transparent areas have become a solid background, because JPG has no transparency at all.
Limitations
- JPG does not support transparency, so converting a transparent PNG to it fills those areas with a solid colour. That is the format's behaviour, not a fault in the tool.
- The WebP option is hidden in browsers that cannot export it, and the tool says so rather than offering a choice that would fail.
- Converting from one lossy format to another adds fresh loss on top of the original.
- Only JPG, PNG and WebP are supported.
Privacy and processing
Conversion happens inside your browser through the canvas and no image is uploaded.
Technical notes
- WebP export support is detected at runtime by actually attempting a small encode, not by reading the browser's name or version.
