What this tool does

Extracts the colour of any point in an image when you click it, and gives you its value in the notations used in design and code.

When to use it

  • You want to match a colour from an image in a design or a web page.
  • You need the exact colour code from a logo or a screenshot.
  • You are building a palette inspired by a photograph.
  • You want an element's real colour rather than your estimate of it.

How to use it

  1. Drag an image onto the drop area or choose one.
  2. Click anywhere on the image to extract its colour.
  3. Copy the value shown.

A practical example

Input

A screenshot of a web page, clicked on a button's background.

Output

That pixel's exact colour value, ready to paste into CSS or a design tool.

Limitations

  • The value comes from one specific pixel, not an average of an area — clicking on a gradient edge gives an in-between colour that can surprise you.
  • Images compressed in a lossy format such as JPG carry slight colour artefacts near edges, so the value can differ a little from the true original.
  • To pull a whole palette out of an image, use the Colour Palette Extractor.

Privacy and processing

The image is read and processed inside your browser through the canvas and is never uploaded.

Technical notes

  • The colour is read from the canvas's actual pixel data, not estimated visually.
