Image Redaction Tool

Draw boxes over faces, ID numbers, or any sensitive area of an image to permanently black them out or blur them, then download the redacted photo — done entirely on your device, with the original never uploaded anywhere.

Image Tools Runs entirely in your browser

Your image is processed on your device via Canvas and is never uploaded to our servers.

Manually select the areas you want to hide by dragging a rectangle over them — this tool has no automatic face or text detection.

What this tool does

Hides parts of an image by marking regions and applying a blur, a pixelation, or a solid colour cover. The change is merged into the resulting image's pixels.

When to use it

  • A screenshot containing an email address or username that you want to publish.
  • A photo containing someone's face who has not agreed to appear.
  • A picture of a document showing an account number or address that must be hidden.
  • An app screenshot with real data you want covered before showing it.

How to use it

  1. Put the image on the drop area or choose it.
  2. Choose the method: blur, pixelate or a solid cover, and set the cover colour if you chose that.
  3. Mark the regions to hide on the image; use "Undo last region" if you misplace one.
  4. Click "Download image".

A practical example

Input

An inbox screenshot with two regions marked over the sender's address and name, using pixelation.

Output

The same screenshot with those two regions pixelated so their contents cannot be read.

Limitations

  • Light blur or coarse pixelation may not be enough: weakly pixelated text can sometimes be guessed at. If the information is genuinely sensitive, a solid colour cover is the only safe choice.
  • Check the result before publishing and confirm everything that needed hiding is covered — the tool applies what you mark and does not go looking for sensitive data itself.
  • One image at a time.
  • The change is permanent in the output; keep the original image.

Privacy and processing

The image is processed inside your browser through the canvas and never uploaded — essential here, since an image that needs part of it hidden is the last thing that should be sent to an outside service.

Technical notes

  • The obscuring is applied to the image's own pixels and then re-encoded, so the original data does not survive under a removable layer.
