What this tool does
Adjusts an image's brightness, contrast and saturation with three sliders, each a percentage from -100 to 100 where zero means no change.
When to use it
- A photo came out darker or brighter than it should be.
- A flat image needs more contrast to read clearly.
- Colours are overdone and need calming, or washed out and need lifting.
- You are bringing a set of photos shot under different lighting into line.
How to use it
- Drag an image onto the drop area or choose one.
- Adjust "Brightness", "Contrast" and "Saturation" until you have what you want.
- Click "Download image".
A practical example
Input
A slightly dark indoor photo with flat colours.
Output
The same photo after modest brightness and contrast increases and a lift in saturation, now clearer and more alive.
Limitations
- Raising brightness cannot recover detail from areas that are fully blown out or completely black; what the camera lost is gone.
- Too much contrast swallows the gradations in the lightest and darkest areas.
- Adjustments apply to the whole image; specific regions cannot be targeted.
- One image at a time.
Privacy and processing
Adjustments happen inside your browser through the canvas and the image is never uploaded.
Technical notes
- The brightness, contrast and saturation maths are pure functions independent of the canvas API, covered by unit tests that run in Node.
