Excel to JSON Converter
Upload an .xlsx file and get each row converted into a JSON object keyed by its column headers, ready to copy or download. Blank or duplicate headers are handled automatically so no column is ever lost.
Your file is processed on your device and is never uploaded to our servers.

Supports .xlsx files
The first row of each sheet is assumed to be the field names. Blank-titled columns are auto-named (Column_1, Column_2...), and duplicate titles get a trailing number so no data is lost.
What this tool does
Reads a worksheet from an Excel workbook and turns it into a JSON array, with each row an object whose keys are the column names.
When to use it
- Data held in Excel that you need in code or an API.
- Populating a database from a sheet maintained by a non-technical team.
- Moving data from a spreadsheet file into a web application.
How to use it
- Put the Excel file on the drop area or choose it.
- Pick the worksheet if there is more than one; the row count is shown.
- Click "Download JSON".
A practical example
Input
A sheet with name and email columns and thirty rows.
Output
A JSON array of thirty objects, each with a name and an email key.
Limitations
- The first row is treated as the keys, so a sheet that starts with a title or blank rows produces unhelpful key names.
- Formulas are read as their results, not their text.
- Merged cells can produce empty values in the rows they span.
- Full support is for .xlsx.
Privacy and processing
The workbook is read on your device and neither it nor the JSON it produces is uploaded.
Technical notes
- Reading uses SheetJS locally with no network access at any point.
