Zakat Calculator

Enter your cash, gold, silver, and other zakatable assets to calculate the Zakat due based on the standard 2.5% rate, after checking whether your total wealth exceeds the current nisab threshold. This is a calculation aid, not a religious ruling — consult a knowledgeable source for specific fatwa questions.

Islamic Tools Runs entirely in your browser

All calculations happen on your device — your financial figures are never sent to a server.

Enter today's nisab (the zakat threshold) in your own currency — the value of 85g of gold or 595g of silver at today's market price. We deliberately don't show a fixed gold price here, since it changes daily and any number we shipped would go stale. This is a standard-rate (2.5%) calculator for informational purposes only — it isn't a religious ruling (fatwa), and doesn't replace consulting a scholar for complex cases like business assets or partnerships.

What this tool does

Calculates zakat on wealth: it totals your assets, subtracts your liabilities to give net wealth, compares that against the nisab threshold you enter, and computes the zakat due if the threshold is met.

When to use it

  • A lunar year has passed on your wealth and you want to calculate the zakat.
  • Checking your arithmetic before paying.
  • Finding out whether your wealth meets the threshold at all.
  • Recording your calculation for reference next year.

How to use it

  1. Enter your total zakatable assets.
  2. Enter the liabilities owed by you.
  3. Enter the nisab value according to the gold or silver price you follow.
  4. Run the calculation and read the net wealth, whether the threshold is met, and the zakat due.

A practical example

Input

Assets and liabilities with a specified nisab value.

Output

The net wealth, whether it meets the threshold, and the zakat due if it does.

Limitations

  • The nisab is entered by hand because it moves with gold and silver prices; the tool neither fetches nor assumes it.
  • Which assets are zakatable and which liabilities may be deducted is a question of religious jurisprudence on which scholars and schools differ — the tool computes what you enter and does not rule on what should be entered.
  • This is an arithmetic aid rather than a religious authority; for questions you are unsure about, consult a qualified scholar or the competent body where you are.
  • It does not track the passing of the lunar year; determining when zakat becomes due is yours.

Privacy and processing

All calculations happen on your device and your financial figures are never sent to a server.

Technical notes

  • The calculation applies the established rate to net wealth once it exceeds the threshold you entered.
