Hijri-Gregorian Date Converter
Enter a date in either the Hijri or Gregorian calendar to convert it to the other — useful for Islamic holidays, historical dates, and everyday cross-calendar reference.
The conversion happens entirely on your device — nothing is sent anywhere.
This uses the tabular (arithmetic) Hijri calendar, based on a fixed astronomical cycle, and can differ by a day from Saudi Arabia's official Umm al-Qura calendar, which follows its own precomputed table. Check with an official source for important religious occasions.
What this tool does
Converts dates between the Hijri and Gregorian calendars in both directions.
When to use it
- Filling in a form that asks for the date in the other calendar.
- Finding what your birth date is in the other calendar.
- Working out an occasion's date in the calendar you follow.
- Recording a date in both calendars.
How to use it
- Choose the direction: to Hijri or to Gregorian.
- Enter the day, month and year.
- Click convert and read the corresponding date.
A practical example
Input
A Gregorian date converted to Hijri.
Output
The day, month and year in the Hijri calendar.
Limitations
- The conversion uses the tabular (arithmetic) Islamic calendar with its fixed cycle, which is not the Umm al-Qura calendar Saudi Arabia publishes, built on a precomputed irregular table. The two agree most of the time but can differ by a day near the start of a Hijri month.
- In many countries the start of a month follows moon sighting, which does not necessarily follow any calculation.
- Do not treat this as an authority for determining dates of religious observance; the competent authorities where you are hold that role.
Privacy and processing
The conversion happens entirely on your device and nothing is sent anywhere.
Technical notes
- The calculation uses the published Julian-day formulas relied on by many open-source calendar libraries.
