What this tool does
Records video from your device's camera with sound directly in the browser, and gives you the file to download.
When to use it
- Recording a quick video message without another app.
- Filming a short introduction of yourself.
- Checking that your camera and microphone work before a meeting.
- Recording a video statement or answer for an application.
How to use it
- Click "Enable camera" and grant the browser's camera and microphone permission.
- Click "Start recording".
- Click "Stop recording" when you are done.
- Click "Download video (WebM)".
A practical example
Input
A one-minute recording from a laptop camera.
Output
A video file with picture and sound ready to download straight away.
Limitations
- It needs camera and microphone permission; declining prevents recording and you get a message explaining it.
- Recording quality is bounded by your device's camera and lighting.
- The output is WebM; if you need MP4, run it through the video format converter afterwards.
- A long recording is bounded by your device's memory.
