UUID Generator
Generate universally unique identifiers (UUID v4) for use in code, databases, or testing — created locally in your browser using cryptographically random values.
Developer Tools Runs entirely in your browser
UUIDs are generated entirely on your device using crypto.randomUUID and are never sent to a server.
What this tool does
Generates universally unique identifiers in the quantity you ask for, using the browser's built-in cryptographic UUID generator.
When to use it
- Needing unique identifiers for database records.
- Generating keys for test fixtures or sample data.
- Needing an identifier that will not collide even when generated on different machines.
- Testing a system that expects identifiers in this format.
How to use it
- Set the "Count" you need.
- Click "Generate".
- Copy the identifiers.
A practical example
Input
A request for five identifiers.
Output
Five identifiers in the standard five-group hyphenated hexadecimal form, none of them repeating.
Limitations
- The identifiers are random and carry no information: no ordering in time and no indication of where they came from.
- They should not be used as secrets or access tokens despite being random, because they are designed for uniqueness rather than secrecy.
- They are not saved; close the page and they are gone.
Privacy and processing
Generation happens entirely on your device via crypto.randomUUID, and no identifier is sent to a server.
Technical notes
- Relying on the browser's built-in generator guarantees cryptographic randomness, which is what makes the chance of a collision negligible in practice.
