What this tool does
Converts between JSON and YAML in both directions. Both carry the same data in different notation: JSON is more common in APIs, YAML more readable in configuration files.
When to use it
- Moving configuration between two systems that use different formats.
- A YAML config you want to read in the JSON notation you know better.
- Writing a config file and preferring YAML's readability to JSON's braces.
- Checking that a YAML file holds the structure you think it does.
How to use it
- Choose the "Conversion direction": "JSON to YAML" or "YAML to JSON".
- Paste your text into the field.
- Click "Convert" and copy the result.
A practical example
Input
{"name": "Ahmad", "age": 30} converting JSON to YAML.
Output
Two lines, name: Ahmad and age: 30, carrying the same meaning in a more readable form.
Limitations
- YAML parsing is restricted to the JSON-compatible types only: strings, numbers, booleans, null, arrays and maps.
- YAML's more exotic tags and custom types are deliberately unsupported — a security decision rather than a gap: a malicious YAML document cannot deserialize into anything beyond plain data.
- YAML comments are lost when converting to JSON, because JSON has no comments.

Technical notes
- Conversion uses js-yaml with its most restrictive built-in schema, which is what guarantees no document can produce executable objects.
