Mock/Fake Test Data Generator
Lets you define a simple schema (each field's name and type: name, email, phone, address, date, number, boolean, UUID, and more), then instantly generate any number of rows of realistic-looking test data, and download it as a ready CSV or JSON file for developing and testing your apps and databases. The generated data is entirely random, English-only sample data (placeholder names, cities, companies) — not real data about any actual person. All generation happens in your browser, with nothing ever sent to a server.
The mock data is generated entirely on your device — nothing is sent to a server.
This is random, English-only sample data (placeholder names, cities, companies) — not real data, for testing and development use only.
What this tool does
Generates test data with the columns and types you define, in the number of rows you ask for, downloadable as CSV or JSON.
When to use it
- Populating a database or an interface with test data before the real data exists.
- Demonstrating a form or table to a client with realistic-looking values.
- Load-testing a system with a large number of records.
- Avoiding the use of real customer data in a development environment.
How to use it
- Add fields with "Add field", giving each a "Field name" and a "Field type".
- Set the number of rows.
- Click "Generate".
- Use "Download CSV" or "Download JSON", or copy the JSON directly.
A practical example
Input
Three fields — a name, an email and a date — with fifty rows.
Output
Fifty records with realistic-looking values in all three fields, downloadable in either format.
Limitations
- The sample data is English only in this version: generated names, cities and companies are not localised. That is a disclosed scope simplification rather than an oversight — curated, realistic name and place banks across ten locales is a project of its own.
- The data is random and the same output cannot be reproduced on a later run.
- It looks realistic but is not real, so it suits nothing that requires genuinely correct data.
- The row count is capped, and the ceiling is shown in the interface.
Privacy and processing
The mock data is generated entirely on your device and nothing is sent to a server.
Technical notes
- Every generator function receives its randomness source as a parameter rather than calling one directly, which keeps the whole module a pure, fully testable function of its inputs.
Frequently Asked Questions
No, not at all — every value is entirely random, generated from placeholder name/city/company lists for testing purposes only, never real data about any person or organization.
