Text Diff Checker
Paste two versions of a text and instantly see the differences highlighted line by line — useful for comparing document revisions, code snippets, or any two pieces of text. Comparison runs entirely in your browser.
Text Tools Runs entirely in your browser
Both texts are compared entirely on your device — neither is sent to a server.
What this tool does
Compares two texts and shows what was added and what was removed between them, line by line.
When to use it
- Two versions of a document whose differences you want.
- Reviewing edits someone made to your text.
- Comparing two versions of a config file or source file.
- Confirming whether two texts are genuinely identical.
How to use it
- Paste the "First text" into its field.
- Paste the "Second text" into its field.
- Click "Compare texts" and read what was added and removed.
A practical example
Input
Two versions of a paragraph where one sentence was edited and another added.
Output
A report showing the removed line and the added line, with matching lines going unmentioned.
Limitations
- The comparison is at line level, so changing a single word appears as a removed line and an added line rather than an edit within the line.
- Differences in whitespace or line endings count as differences — clean both texts first if you do not want that.
- The comparison is textual and does not understand meaning: two sentences saying the same thing differently appear as different.
Privacy and processing
Both texts are compared entirely on your device and neither is sent to a server.
Technical notes
- The comparison uses a longest-common-subsequence algorithm, the same one behind the PDF comparison tool here.
