Citation & Bibliography Generator
The Citation Generator turns your source's details (author, title, year, publisher or site...) into a ready-made citation in one of four common academic styles: APA (7th edition), MLA (9th edition), Chicago (author-date), and Harvard. Supports three source types — website, book, and journal article — with a live preview as you fill in the fields. All processing happens in your browser — your data is never uploaded to a server.
All processing happens on your device — nothing is sent to a server.
The tool formats plain text only (no italics), and handles up to 3 authors precisely — 4 or more collapse to "et al." per each style's own convention.

A practical example
Input
A journal article with three authors in a particular style.
Output
A citation formatted in that style, with author names handled by its own convention, including the et al. abbreviation once the prescribed number is exceeded.
Limitations
- Citation styles have long detailed manuals and many special cases; check the result against your institution's guide before relying on it.
- Three source types are supported; others such as theses and interviews are not covered.
- Styles are revised in new editions, and the output may differ from the latest edition your department follows.
- The citation's accuracy follows what you enter; the tool does not verify the source's details.
Privacy and processing
All processing happens on your device and your source details are never sent to a server.
Technical notes
- Multi-author handling follows each style's own convention for how many names appear before the abbreviation, which is among the most commonly mishandled parts of citing by hand.
