Audiogram (Waveform Video) Generator

The Audiogram Generator turns any audio clip (podcast, voice recording, music track) into a shareable video, with an animated waveform that progresses as the audio plays, plus your choice of background color, waveform color, and an optional short caption at the bottom of the video. The video is generated entirely in your browser via a live canvas recording synced to the audio — no data is ever uploaded to a server.

What this tool does

Turns an audio file into a video showing an animated waveform on a coloured background, with optional caption text underneath — which is what makes audio postable on video platforms.

When to use it

  • Posting a podcast excerpt to a platform that only accepts video.
  • Sharing an audio quote on social media with something to look at.
  • Turning an audio recording into visual content without filming anything.

How to use it

  1. Put an audio file on the drop area or choose it — MP3, WAV, M4A or OGG.
  2. Pick the "Background color" and "Waveform color".
  3. Type a short "Caption text" if you want one shown at the bottom.
  4. Click "Generate video", then "Download video (WebM)".

A practical example

Input

A two-minute podcast excerpt with a dark background, a light waveform and a short caption.

Output

A two-minute video whose waveform moves with the audio, with the caption fixed at the bottom.

Limitations

  • The audio is limited to five minutes.
  • The caption is one short fixed line, not subtitles synchronised to the speech.
  • The generated video is WebM; convert it with the video format converter if a platform needs MP4.
  • Design options are limited to the two colours and the caption — no background images or logos.

Privacy and processing

The video is generated entirely inside your browser and the audio file is never uploaded to any server.

Technical notes

  • The waveform is drawn frame by frame from the actual audio data, so its movement reflects what is heard rather than being decorative motion.

Frequently Asked Questions

The video is generated in exactly the same time as the audio's own playback (a live, synced recording), so a 1-minute clip takes about a minute to generate. The supported maximum is 5 minutes.
