Add PDF Margins
Add extra white space around every page — useful before hole-punching, binding, or adding your own annotations — by enlarging the page and shifting the original content inward, without shrinking anything. Runs entirely on your device.

What this tool does
Adds white margins around a PDF's pages. The page itself grows to accommodate the new margin, so the original content stays at its full size rather than being shrunk to make room — unlike tools that scale the content down.
When to use it
- A document is going to be printed and bound or hole-punched, and needs edge space the binding will not eat.
- A file has almost no margin and you want room for handwritten notes after printing.
- A recipient requires a specific minimum margin.
How to use it
- Put a PDF on the drop area or choose it.
- Enter the margin for each side in points — the tool reminds you that 72 points equals one inch.
- Click "Add margins and download file".
A practical example
Input
An A4 document with no left margin; you add 54 points on the left only, ready for binding.
Output
A document whose pages are 54 points (about 19 mm) wider, with the original content at full size, shifted clear of the binding edge.
Limitations
- The same margins apply to every page; there is no alternating inner/outer margin for odd and even pages as bookbinding would use.
- Because the page grows, its size may no longer match the standard format it started as — something you may notice when printing to a fixed size.
- To shrink the content inside a fixed page size instead of growing the page, use the Resize PDF Pages tool.
Privacy and processing
Margins are added inside your browser and the file is never uploaded.
Technical notes
- The unit is the PDF point: 72 points = 1 inch = 25.4 mm.
- The content is neither redrawn nor rescaled; the page boundary is widened and the content shifted within it, so text and image quality are untouched.
