URL Encoder/Decoder
Encode text or a full URL into its percent-encoded (URI component) form, or decode an encoded string back to readable text — handling special characters and non-Latin text correctly. Runs entirely in your browser.

What this tool does
Encodes text so it is valid inside a URL, or decodes an encoded URL so you can read it.
When to use it
- Building a URL with parameters containing spaces, special characters or non-Latin text.
- A URL full of %20 and %3A that you want to read.
- Debugging a URL that breaks because something was not encoded.
- Preparing a parameter value to drop into an address.
How to use it
- Choose the "Conversion direction": "Encode URL" or "Decode URL".
- Paste the text or URL into the field.
- Click "Encode" or "Decode" and copy the result.
A practical example
Input
https://example.com/search?q=hello world, encoding.
Output
The same URL with the space as %20, so it no longer breaks at the space.
Limitations
- Encoding conceals nothing: whatever you encode is readable by anyone who decodes it.
- Encoding an already-encoded URL re-encodes its % signs and corrupts it — encode parameter values, not the whole URL.
- Decoding text that was never encoded can give an unexpected result if it contains a % sign.
Privacy and processing
The text is processed entirely on your device and is never sent to any server.
Technical notes
- The encoding follows the standard URL rules, so the result works in any browser or server.
