URL Parser
Paste any URL to see it decomposed into its protocol, host, port, path, query string, hash, and every individual query parameter — using the browser's native URL parser for accurate results.
Developer Tools Runs entirely in your browser
The URL is processed entirely on your device and is never sent to any server.
What this tool does
Breaks a URL into its parts — protocol, host, hostname, port, path, query, hash and origin — with a table of the query parameters split out.
When to use it
- A long URL with many parameters whose contents you want to read clearly.
- Debugging a URL where you cannot tell which part is wrong.
- Inspecting a tracking or redirect link to see what it carries.
- Learning how URLs are structured in practice.
How to use it
- Paste the URL into the "URL" field.
- Read the parts shown: protocol, host, hostname, port, path, query, hash and origin.
- Read the "Query parameters" table to see each key and value separately.
A practical example
Input
https://example.com:8080/path?a=1&b=2#section
Output
Protocol https:, host example.com:8080, port 8080, path /path, query ?a=1&b=2, hash #section, and a=1 and b=2 in the parameter table.
Limitations
- The URL must be well-formed; anything else is rejected with a clear message.
- This parses the URL and neither visits it nor checks whether it works.
- Repeated parameters with the same name are all shown, which is correct because URLs permit them.
Privacy and processing
The URL is processed entirely on your device and is never sent to any server — and the page it points at is never fetched.
Technical notes
- Parsing uses the browser's built-in URL parser, so what it accepts is what the browser itself accepts.
