PDF Watermark

Add a text watermark — your company name, "Confidential", a draft label, or anything else — with control over size, opacity, rotation, and position. The watermark is rendered locally and burned into a downloaded copy, without touching the original file on any server.

PDF Tools Runs entirely in your browser

Your files are processed on your device and are never uploaded to our servers.

What this tool does

Adds a text watermark over a PDF's pages. You type the text and choose its angle, position and page range, and you can process several files at once and download them together as a ZIP.

When to use it

  • You are sharing a draft and want it unmistakably marked so it is not mistaken for final.
  • An internal document needs marking as confidential before it circulates.
  • You are delivering sample work and want it marked before terms are agreed.
  • You have a batch of files that all need the same watermark.

How to use it

  1. Drag your PDFs onto the drop area or choose them — more than one is fine.
  2. Type the watermark text, for example Draft, Confidential or Copy.
  3. Choose the rotation (flat or angled) and the position (centre, top or bottom).
  4. Choose the pages: all of them, or specific ones by typing a range like 1,3,5-8.
  5. Apply, then download each file individually or use "Download all as ZIP".

A practical example

Input

Three contract PDFs, watermark text "Draft", angled 45°, centred on every page.

Output

Three files each carrying "Draft" diagonally across the middle of every page, downloadable together as one ZIP.

Limitations

  • The watermark is a visible layer merged into the page. It does not stop anyone reading or printing the document and is not a security measure.
  • The text is drawn over the content, so a busy page can become harder to read underneath it.
  • Angles and positions are limited to the options offered; there is no free coordinate control.

Privacy and processing

Every file is processed inside your browser, including the batch run and the ZIP it produces — nothing is uploaded.

Technical notes

  • The text is first rasterised on a hidden canvas using the browser's own text engine, and the resulting transparent PNG is embedded into the document.
  • That approach is what lets the watermark render correctly in any script, including right-to-left text that pdf-lib's standard fonts would draw as broken boxes.
  • One watermark image is generated per document and reused across all of its pages.
