PDF Metadata Viewer
See exactly what metadata a PDF file carries — title, author, subject, the software that created it, and creation/modification dates — read directly from the file with nothing sent to a server. Only fields the file actually declares are shown.
The file's information is read on your device instantly and is never uploaded to our servers.

What this tool does
Reads a PDF's metadata and displays it: page count, PDF version, title, author, subject, and the program that created the file. It is an inspection tool only — it never modifies the file or produces a new one.
When to use it
- You want to know who produced a document, and with what, before trusting or forwarding it.
- You are checking whether a file carries author details you would rather strip before publishing.
- You need a file's page count or PDF version quickly without opening it in a reader.
How to use it
- Drag a PDF onto the drop area or choose it.
- Read the fields shown; anything the file does not specify appears as a dash.
- Use "Inspect another file" to repeat on a second document.
A practical example
Input
A PDF exported from a word processor.
Output
A readout showing, for instance, 14 pages, PDF version 1.7, an empty title, an author field carrying the device account's name, and the exporting program as creator.
Many programs fill the author field automatically with the computer's user name without the owner realising — a good reason to inspect any file before publishing it.
Limitations
- This tool only reads; removing or changing these fields needs a metadata editor.
- Fields the original file left empty stay empty — nothing is inferred or guessed.
- What is shown is what the file claims about itself, and any program can write inaccurate values there.
Privacy and processing
The metadata is read on your device the moment you pick the file; the document is never uploaded and none of its data is sent anywhere.
Technical notes
- The read works directly on the document structure without rendering any page, which is why the result is immediate even for large files.
