JSON Diff Checker
Paste two JSON values and get a real structural comparison of their data — not a line-by-line text diff — showing every added, removed, or changed field by its exact path.
The comparison happens entirely on your device and your data is never sent to any server.
This is a real structural comparison (data structure), not a line-by-line text comparison like a general text-diff tool.
What this tool does
Compares two JSON objects and shows where they differ: what was added, what was removed and what changed value, with the full path to each difference.
When to use it
- Checking what changed in an API response between two requests.
- Comparing a config file before and after an edit.
- Tracking down why two environments behave differently by comparing their configuration.
- Reviewing what an update changed in a data structure.
How to use it
- Paste the first object into the first JSON field.
- Paste the second into the second field.
- Click compare and read the list of differences.
A practical example
Input
Two similar responses where one field changed and another was added.
Output
A list giving the changed field's path with its old and new values, and the added field's path — with every matching field going unmentioned.
Limitations
- Both inputs must be valid JSON; anything else is rejected with a clear message.
- The comparison is structural on keys and values and ignores key order within an object — the correct behaviour, since key order in JSON carries no meaning.
- Array element order does carry meaning, so swapping two elements counts as a difference.
Privacy and processing
The comparison happens entirely on your device and your data is never sent to any server.
Technical notes
- Each difference is reported with its full path into the structure, so you can go straight to it in a large file.
