Business Card Scanner

Uses optical character recognition (OCR) to read a photo of any business card, then analyzes the extracted text to automatically infer the name, job title, company, phone, email, and website — with every field kept editable before download, since business-card layouts vary a lot and automatic extraction may not always be accurate. Once reviewed, download the data as a ready vCard (.vcf) contact file to import into your phone or contacts app. All processing happens entirely in your browser, with the card photo never uploaded to a server.

OCR & Text Extraction Runs entirely in your browser

Your business-card photo is processed entirely on your device by an in-browser OCR engine, and is never uploaded to a server.

What this tool does

Reads a photo of a business card and extracts its details — name, job title, company, phone, email and website — exporting them as a vCard ready to add to your contacts.

When to use it

  • You collected cards at a conference and want them in your phone.
  • Capturing a card's details before you lose it.
  • Building a contact list from paper cards.

How to use it

  1. Put the card photo on the drop area or choose it.
  2. Choose the OCR language.
  3. Run the scan and review the extracted fields.
  4. Click "Download vCard" to add it to your contacts.

A practical example

Input

A photo of a clearly printed business card.

Output

The name, title, company, phone, email and website in separate fields, with a ready vCard file.

Limitations

  • Business card designs vary enormously, and some arrange details in an order or typeface that resists inference — an undetected field is reported as such rather than guessed.
  • Check the phone and email before saving; one wrong character makes the contact useless.
  • Decorative typefaces and metallic or embossed printing on coloured backgrounds are the hardest cases.
  • One card at a time.

Privacy and processing

The image is processed entirely inside your browser and never uploaded — the cardholder's details never leave your device.

Technical notes

  • The generated vCard uses the standard format, so it imports directly into contact applications on phones and computers.

Frequently Asked Questions

No — extraction relies on a best-effort analysis of the OCR text and can occasionally be wrong, especially with unusual card layouts. That's why every field stays manually editable before you download.
