Color Palette Extractor

The Color Palette Extractor analyzes any image you upload and automatically extracts its most dominant colors, showing each color's HEX and RGB code along with its approximate share of the image. Copy any single color with one click, or copy the whole palette at once as ready-to-use CSS custom properties. Useful for pulling a color identity from a product photo, a logo, or a design shot you like. All analysis happens in your browser via Canvas — your image is never uploaded to a server.

What this tool does

Extracts the dominant colours from an image and gives you their values ready to copy as CSS.

  • An inspiring photograph you want a palette from.
  • Setting a page's colours from its cover image.
  • Matching a design's colours to a product photo.

How to use it

  1. Put the image on the drop area or choose it.
  2. Read the extracted "Palette".
  3. Copy an individual colour or copy them all as CSS.

A practical example

Input

A colourful photograph.

Output

A palette of the image's dominant colours, with values ready to paste into a stylesheet.

Limitations

  • An image's dominant colours are not necessarily a harmonious palette fit for a design; review them and choose.
  • Images with many gradients yield closely related colours that may not all be useful.
  • Lossily compressed images carry slight colour artefacts that affect accuracy.
  • To build a harmonious palette from one base colour, use the Colour Palette Harmony Generator.

Privacy and processing

Your image is processed entirely on your device via Canvas and is never uploaded to a server.

Technical notes

  • Extraction analyses the colour distribution in the image's actual pixels rather than estimating it visually.

Frequently Asked Questions
