Batch File Renamer

The Batch File Renamer lets you apply one consistent naming pattern to many files at once: find and replace text, add a fixed prefix or suffix, and add an automatic sequence number (at the start or end) with as many digits as you choose. The tool shows a live preview of the new names before you download, then bundles every renamed file into one ready-to-use ZIP archive — all of it happening in your browser, with no file ever uploaded to a server.

Productivity Tools Runs entirely in your browser

Your files are renamed entirely in your browser — nothing is uploaded to a server.

What this tool does

Renames many files at once by rules you set — find and replace, a prefix and suffix, and a sequence number — with a preview of the new names before you download.

When to use it

  • Camera photos with meaningless names you want organised.
  • Files carrying a word you want removed from all their names.
  • Files needing sequential numbering.
  • Standardising project file names before delivery.

How to use it

  1. Drag your files onto the drop area or choose them.
  2. Set "Find text" and "Replace with", plus a "Prefix" and "Suffix".
  3. Turn on "Add a sequence number" and set where it starts, its digits and its position.
  4. Review the "Preview of new names", then click "Download as ZIP".

A practical example

Input

Twenty photos with a prefix and a three-digit sequence number at the end.

Output

A ZIP of the twenty photos under tidy sequential names, exactly as the preview showed.

Limitations

  • This produces newly named files inside a ZIP; your original files on disk are untouched — it does not rename them in place.
  • File extensions are left as they are.
  • Review the preview before downloading, because the rules can produce colliding names.
  • Large sets are bounded by device memory.

Privacy and processing

Renaming happens entirely in your browser and nothing is uploaded to a server.

Technical notes

  • The preview is computed from the same rules that will be applied, so what you see is exactly what you get.

Frequently Asked Questions

No, the tool never accesses your file system or modifies any original file — it only creates new copies with the updated names inside a ZIP archive that you download.
