Code Minifier
Paste CSS or JSON code to strip out unnecessary whitespace and comments, see the exact percentage size reduction, and copy the minified result — all processed locally in your browser.
Developer Tools Runs entirely in your browser
The minification happens entirely inside your browser without uploading any code to a server.
What this tool does
Shrinks code by removing unnecessary whitespace and comments, and reports how much size it saved. It handles more than one code type.
When to use it
- Reducing a file's size before publishing it to a site.
- Fitting code into somewhere space-constrained.
- Measuring how much a given file could save.
How to use it
- Choose the "Code type".
- Paste your code into the "Original code" field.
- Run the minification and read the size reduction.
- Copy the "Minified code".
A practical example
Input
A CSS rule with whitespace, line breaks and comments.
Output
The same code on one line with no comments, plus an approximate percentage size reduction.
Limitations
- Minifying removes whitespace and comments; it does not rename variables or strip unused code the way a dedicated build tool does.
- Minified code is hard to debug, so always keep the original.
- The saving depends entirely on the code: a comment-heavy file saves a lot, an already-minified one saves almost nothing.
Privacy and processing
Minification happens entirely inside your browser without uploading any code to a server.
Technical notes
- The minification is textual and neither executes nor semantically analyses the code, which makes it safe but shallower than a build tool.
